Those hoping for another raunchy comedy from Ben Stiller need not inquire within. Stiller’s new movie Brad’s Status looks ready to pull at your heartstrings.
When Brad Sloan (Stiller) accompanies his college bound son to the East Coast, the visit triggers a bit of a mid-life crisis, as Brad begins to compare his quiet, suburban life to the lives of his big shot best friends from college. Is Brad’s quiet but rich life a failure or an asset?
Brad’s friends are played by Michael Sheen, Luke Wilson and Jermaine Clement, with Jenna Fischer as Brad’s wife Melanie and Austin Abrams as his musical prodigy son. Billed as a bittersweet comedy and written/directed by Mike White, its poster looks appropriately moody, with Brad and his son looking somberly off into the distance.
An official selection of the Toronto International Film Festival, Amazon Studies will release Brad’s Status in theaters on September 15.
