Academy-Approved “The Revenant” on DVD this April

Hot off winning a few Oscars at the Academy Awards last night, Twentieth Century Fox has announced that The Revenant will be available on Digital HD on March 22 and on 4K Ultra HD Disc, Blu-ray, and DVD on April 19.

The Revenant won three Oscars: Best Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio - finally), Best Director (Alejandro G. Inarritu), and Best Cinematography (Emmanuel Lubezki). On top of that, it has won three Golden Globes, five BAFTA Awards, a DGA Award for Best Director, and SAG Award for Best Actor (DiCaprio), just to name a few. Sadly, the CGI bear from the film hasn't received a single recognition for her pivotal performance.

Inspired by true events, The Revenant tells the story of explorer Hugh Glass (DiCaprio) on his quest for survival and justice. After surviving a bear attack and being betrayed, Glass must persevere through harsh terrain and unexpected obstacles to get revenge. The film also stars Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, Will Poulter, and newcomer Forrest Goodluck.

The Blu-ray will include a companion documentary titled "A World Unseen" which explores 19th century America and its parallels to our world today. So if you just can't wait to buy the film that finally got Leo his Oscar, mark your calendars for April 19.
