For working class America there is nothing we can all relate to better than a hostile working environment. For this reason alone, Warner Bros.' raunchy comedy Horrible Bosses is one of the funniest movies so far this year. Director Seth Gordon keeps the laughter flowing as the film fails to ever hit a snag, giving us all exactly what we long for every working day of our lives ... revenge.
For Nick (Jason Bateman), Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) and Dale (Charlie Day), the work days have simple become intolerable. The reason? Their constantly unimpressive and unprofessional bosses (Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, Jennifer Aniston respectively) . Quitting is not an option, so, with the benefit of a few-too-many drinks and some dubious advice from a hustling ex-con (Jamie Foxx), the three friends devise a convoluted plan to rid themselves of their respective employers "¦ permanently. There's only one problem: even the best laid plans are only as foolproof as the brains behind them.
As far as dark comedies go, Horrible Bosses sits up there with the best. Filled with a slew of dirty jokes, sexual innuendos, racial stereotyping, murder, volatile language, violence, high speed car chases and Jamie Foxx, the film is clearly made for adults. Throw in some major A-list actors and there is simply nothing bad to say about this laugh out loud thrill ride.
Easily the most impressive aspect of the film lies within the actors. Usually when you get raunchy comedies such as this the acting is nothing more than an afterthought. But Jason Bateman, once again solidifying himself as a top notch comedy actor, uses a no-holds-bar script to deliver one of the best performances in his still young career. Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis do a fantastic job as his wing men, while Spacey, Farrell, Aniston and Foxx round out an incredible ensemble that is usually unseen in a film of this genre.
Overall, Horrible Bosses will keep you laughing out loud from start to finish. Everyone's performances are hilarious as we finally get the grotesque, adult comedy we've longed for all year. If you're in the mood to laugh, look no further than Bateman and company - they do deliver!
