2019 Oscars LIVE Blog

Tonight could be a big night in Hollywood as several records could be broken, and we're here to live tweet the whole thing.  Refresh for the most up to date information, predictions and commentary!

[10:33PM CST]  WINNER - BEST PICTURE - THE SHAPE OF WATER

[10:41PM CST]  It's a race between The Shape of Water and Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri.  I want the later, but this is likely Water's to take home.

[10:40PM CST]  You see, Hollywood does allow for second chances.

[10:34PM CST]  Frances is KILLING it!!!

[10:33PM CST]  WINNER - BEST ACTRESS - FRANCES MCDORMAN - THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE OF EBBING, MISSOURI

[10:31PM CST]  Frances has earned this one.

[10:30PM CST]  Jennifer Lawrence and Jodie Foster stepping up for Casey Affleck.

[10:13PM CST]  WINNER - BEST ACTOR - GARY OLDMAN - DARKEST HOUR

[10:22PM CST]  I would love for a Call Me By Your Name surprise...but this is Gary Oldman's year.

[10:20PM CST]  Helen Mirren and Jane Fonda...fierceness is alive on the Oscar stage!

[10:17PM CST]  They are overdoing it, but I can't hate on the respect this year's ceremony is giving to past winners.

[10:13PM CST]  WINNER - BEST DIRECTOR - GUILLERMO DEL TORO - THE SHAPE OF WATER

[10:13PM CST]  Emma Stone, rocking the pants - LOVE IT!!!!

[10:01PM CST]  Does Coco have another win in it?  Probably.  Though Call Me By Your Name would be a nice surprise.

[10:01PM CST]  Alexander Hamilton is here!!!!

[9:59PM CST]  WINNER - BEST SCORE - THE SHAPE OF WATER

[9:53PM CST]  Ummmmm...she's really off pitch, correct?

[9:47PM CST]  Sandra Bullock is my everything!!!!

[9:36PM CST]  WINNER - BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY - GET OUT

[9:35PM CST]  Nicole Kidman correlated her dress with the stage backdrop.  Best Original Screenplay award should go to Three Billboards.  Though I wouldn't mind a Lady Bird win.

[9:32PM CST]  WINNER - BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY - CALL ME BY YOUR NAME

[9:31PM CST]  Black Panther and Tonya Harding are set to present the award for Best Adapted Screenplay - fingers crossed for Call Me By Your Name

[9:13PM CST]  WINNER - BEST DOCUMENTARY SHORT SUBJECT - HEAVEN IS A TRAFFIC JAM ON THE 405

[9:11PM CST]  Tiffany and Mya are nailing it!

[9:09PM CST]  Good job Mike - Tiffany got a little dose of her own medicine!!!

[9:07PM CST]  Kimmel is trying desperately to recreate the "tour" gimmick of last year.  Can I get my 15 minutes back?

[8:57PM CST]  WINNER - BEST FILM EDITING - DUNKIRK

[8:56PM CST]  Best Film Editing should go to Dunkirk.

[8:55PM CST]  Alight, alright, alright - Matthew McConaughey is in the house!

[8:53PM CST]  WINNER - BEST VISUAL EFFECTS - BLADE RUNNER 2049

[8:51PM CST]  Gina Rodriguez and Tom Holland strut there way to the microphone for the Visual Effects award.  This one is Blade Runner 2049 to loose.

[8:41PM CST]  WINNER - BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM - COCO

[8:38PM CST]  WINNER - BEST ANIMATED SHORT FILM - DEAR BASKETBALL

[8:37PM CST]  The Star Wars trio are striking out with their lack of comedic timing - just painful.  Let the Best Animated Short winners get on stage.

[8:36PM CST]  Kimmel's younger self introduces the Star Wars presenters.

[8:29PM CST]  WINNER - BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE - ALLISON JANNEY - I, TONYA

[8:26PM CST]  Best Actress in a Supporting Role is next...this one comes down to Allison Janney and Laurie Metcalf - likely going to Janney, but both woman have earned the award with totally opposite, though brilliant performances.  The others are just happy to be invited.

[8:23PM CST]  WINNER - BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM - A FANTASTIC WOMAN

[8:22PM CST]  Best Foreign Language Film should be an easy call for A Fantastic Woman.

[8:22PM CST]  Rita Morena, an Oscar winner for West Side Story is another surprise presenter.

[7:41PM CST]  WINNER: BEST DOCUMENTARY - ICARUS

[7:38PM CST]  Greta Gerwig and Laura Dern take the stage for Best Documentary - an award that will likely go to Icarus - though an upset by Faces Places isn't out of the question.

[7:31PM CST]  WINNER: BEST COSTUME DESIGN - MARK BRIDGES - PHANTOM THREAD

[7:28PM CST]  Eva Marie Saint is a a special presenter for Costume Design - an award that should go to Paul Thomas Anderson's Phantom Thread, a film set in 1050s London.

[7:27PM CST]  WINNER: BEST MAKEUP & HAIRSTYLE - DARKEST HOUR

[7:26PM CST]  Makeup and Hairstyle should go to Darkest Hour

[7:19PM CST]  Is it just me or does everyone get annoyed when people read a prewritten speech?  Though Rockwell's "thanks" to everyone who has ever looked at a billboard was good!

[7:18PM CST]  WINNER: BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR - SAM ROCKWELL - THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI

[7:16PM CST]  Though to be fair, Woody Harrelson was fantastic...and a Christopher Plummer win would have him break his own record as oldest actor to win a statue.

[7:15PM CST]  Viola Davis is presenting.  While William Dafoe could upset, expect it to go to Sam Rockwell for Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri.

[7:13PM CST]  A rather sluggish opening montage paves way to the first award of the night - Best Supporting Actor.

[7:11PM CST]  Fun fact: The first Oscar ceremony lasted 15 minutes.  Kimmel is giving a jetski to the winner who gives the shortest speech - Helen Mirren not included.

[7:08PM CST]  Kimmel takes a jab at the All the Money in the World pay gap.

[7:05PM CST]  Jimmy Kimmel is attempting to mix politics and comedy through a Harvey Weinstein joke.

[7:00PM CST]  It's show time!!!!

About Stephen Davis

Stephen Davis
I owe this hobby/career to the one and only Stephanie Peterman who, while interning at Fox, told me that I had too many opinions and irrelevant information to keep it all bottled up inside. I survived my first rated R film, Alive, at the ripe age of 8, it took me months to grasp the fact that Julia Roberts actually died at the end of Steel Magnolias, and I might be the only person alive who actually enjoyed Sorority Row…for its comedic value of course. While my friends can drink you under the table, I can outwatch you when it comes iconic, yet horrid 80s films like Adventures in Babysitting and Troop Beverly Hills. I have no shame when it comes to what I like, and if you have a problem with that, then we’ll settle it on the racquetball court. I see too many movies to actually win any film trivia contest, so don’t waste your first pick on me. My friends rent movies from my bookcase shelves, and one day I do plan to start charging. I long to live in LA, where my movie obsession will actually help me fit in, but for now I am content with my home in Austin. I prefer indies to blockbusters, Longhorns to Sooners and Halloween to Friday the 13th. I miss the classics, as well as John Ritter, and I hope to one day sit down and interview the amazing Kate Winslet.
