We may have been kept out of movie theaters this year, but that doesn’t mean the movie business isn’t still rolling along. Gravitas Ventures, a Red Arrow Studios company, has acquired worldwide rights to distribute Thomas F. Mazziotti’s The Mimic, starring Thomas Sadoski, Jake Robinson, Austin Pendleton, Gina Gershon, Jessica Walter, M. Emmet Walsh, Jessica Keenan Wynn, and Josh Pais.
Written and directed by Mazziotti, The Mimic follows “the Narrator” (Sadoski) as he is befriended by his young new neighbor (Robinson) after he joins the local newspaper team. The Narrator becomes paranoid that his neighbor might be a sociopath and ends up going to extreme lengths to uncover the truth. “Sociopaths have been portrayed as a shady bunch up until now. Inspired by true events, this confrontational comedy explores the uncharted territory of the lighter side of a sociopath,” says Mazziotti.
Founded in 2006, Gravitas Ventures has distributed over a thousand films worldwide including The Secret: Dare to Dream, End of Sentence, Looks that Kill, Tread, and Loopers.
After a successful world premiere at the 2020 Conquest Film Festival, The Mimic is slated for a release in theaters and on demand on February 5, 2021.
