Best known for their collaboration on The Lobster in 2015, Rachel Weisz and Colin Farrell are once again teaming up on screen for Todd Solondz’s newest film, Love Child. Based on his own script, the comedy will be produced by Killer Films’ Christine Vachon and 2AM’s David Hinojosa.
Plot details are thin, but we know that Love Child follows a precocious kid who schemes to rid himself of his brutish dad so he can have his mom all to himself, in a nod to the classical story of Oedipus. “This is my first movie with a plot and my first movie taking place in Texas. It’s fun and it’s sexy and it’s shaped by the Hollywood movies that made me want to become a filmmaker. I’ve loved Rachel and Colin’s work forever, and am so honored to be able to excite their passion for serious and unexpected work as well," said Solondz.
While plot details are light and we don’t have a timeline, based on Weisz’s and Farrell’s previous collaborations and the previous work of Solondz, you can be sure we’re in for a delightfully weird ride.
