Before Ricky Gervais even had a chance to rib on the
nominees for best supporting actor, the NY Film Critics Circle has already given
out their film accolades for the year. Typically the Golden Globes open up the
awards season, but the Circle just couldn't wait and exploded all over the face
of twitter.
Since Hollywood is known for independent thought, this will not
matter very much. Oh"¦wait, they're not"¦..so "¦.okay, scratch that last thought,
this is huge. Instead of the Globes predicting what films are headed for the
ultimate accolade, the Academy Awards, it's the NYFCC! So what I'm wondering is
if the Golden Globes will follow suit, or will they try to negate this by
choosing films the NYFCC didn't? I guess we'll know if Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep,
The Tree of Life, MoneyBall, and The Artist dominate this awards season. Until then, all we can do
now is actually watch the movies that are nominated and attempt to form our own
opinion, cause you know you haven't.
