Way back on a summer morning in 2015, interns raced across the plaza at the Supreme Court to deliver the news that SCOTUS had ruled same-sex marriage a national right. While the case had been flooding the news outlets for the previous few days, few people knew how long it had taken to get to this decision.
The Freedom to Marry promises to reveal the long-fought battle behind the historic ruling. It follows Evan Wolfson, the architect of the marriage movement, attorney Mary Bonauto, and their team through their decades long battle, culminating in a dramatic fight at the United States Supreme Court.
Directed by veteran doc filmmaker Eddie Rosenstein, The Freedom to Marry will be available digitally on June 6 to coincide with national LGBT pride celebrations this summer.
