Milla Jovovich has taken to the twitter stream to bash
Summit for not properly marketing the newest adaptation of The Three Musketeers. She made the claim that they're riding high
on their Twilight franchise and
didn't want to invest the funds into her movie, which is conveniently directed
by her husband Paul W.S. Anderson.
I watch a copious amount of television and I've probably
seen more Musketeers spots than Twilight in the past few weeks. The
previews had me longing for the Tim Curry, Keifer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen,
and Oliver Platt 1993 adaptation, not necessarily this remake. While they're
probably assuming that making D'Artagnan tiny makes it a family movie, even
families will think this steampunk adaptation of the film to be ridiculous. It
just seems like a desperate attempt to blend in the fun of Pirates of the Carribean with the Musketeer story. The only
problem is they forced it entirely too much by flying actual ships and giving
Orlando Bloom ridiculous hair. I mean seriously, what is up with that hair?
Sorry Milla, Summit could have gone MadMen with that movie
and it still would have bombed at the box office. Every time I saw an ad it
would only reassure me that I would never be seeing the film. Don't worry
Leeloo, I'll still go see your next Resident
Evil movie....maybe.
