Off the air since 2011, Larry David and HBO have announced that Curb Your Enthusiasm will be back for its ninth season.
When the show last aired, neither HBO nor David ever closed the door on a return for the comedy series and it seems after five years, they’re ready to come back (although an official return date has not been announced).
On his decision to bring back Curb Your Enthusiasm’s version of Larry David, David said, “In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, ‘I left, I did nothing, I returned’.” In the five year gap, David has been seen portraying Bernie Sanders on Saturday Night Live and making cameos on the new variety show Maya and Marty on NBC.
Curb Your Enthusiasm originally premiered in 1999 and followed an exaggerated version of Larry David as himself. The show frequently parodied the Hollywood world and aired a total of 80 episodes. It has garnered 39 Emmy nominations and two wins (directing and editing).
