With less than a month until the fifth year of the ATX Television Festival kicks off, more panels have just been announced.
GLAAD will present a “Bury Your Tropes” panel focused on the stereotypical tropes that often come with portrayals of LGBTQIA characters and storylines. Panelists will include Bradley Bredeweg (The Fosters), Javier Grillo-Marxuach (The 100), Krista Vernoff (Shameless, Grey’s Anatomy), Carter Covington (Faking It), and Megan Townsend, Entertainment Media Strategist for GLAAD.
The festival will also host a screening of an episode from the final season of Royal Pains, with cast members Mark Feuerstein, Henry Winkler, Paulo Costanzo, Brooke D’Orsay, Reshma Shetty, and Ben Shenkman in attendance along with creator and executive producer Andrew Lenchewski.
The ATX Television Festival takes place June 9-12, 2016 in Austin, Texas.
Other panels announced today include:
- “Power(ful) TV”, presented by the Television Academy, a discussion of television as an agent of positive social change.
- “3 Rounds with Betsy Beers: A Look Inside Shondaland”, which will feature Entertainment Weekly’s editor-in-chief Henry Goldblatt in conversation with Betsy Beers about her work on Shondaland shows.
- "Hulu’s The Path Screening and Panel" featuring executive producers Jason Katims and Jessica Goldberg.
- "Master Class with Howard Gordon", moderated by Hitfix’s Alan Sepinwall Gordon will reflect on his successes and failures as well as lessons learned during his career.
- "Freeform’s Guilt Advance Screening", with co-creator/writer/executive producer Kathryn Price (The Game Plan) in attendance.
- The Rooster Teeth Panel, featuring co-founders Matt Hullum and Burnie Burns will discuss two of the company’s new shows – Day 5 and Crunch Time – as well as the challenges and advantages of creating programming in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
