In a world transcribed by happily-ever-afters, Marc Webb's postmodern love story 500 Days of Summer transcends that simple claim, showing that in the real world, things don't always come together as well as we originally thought.

Brought to life by two powerful performances from Joseph Gordon-Lovitt and Zooey Deschanel, 500 Days of Summer is full of life, love and the tribulations that always follow. But more than the characters or story, the way that director Marc Webb brings the journey to life helps give the unique film a much needed sharp edge.

Since his divorce three years ago, Carl Allen has led an unmotivated life. Following a systematic course that never alters, Carl goes through life with as little social interaction as possible. But when he runs into an old colleague, the man who has always said 'no' is about to start saying 'yes' to life and opportunity. The change, though sudden, is the result of a self-help seminar that is based on one simple covenant: say yes to everything.

Over the last few years, M. Night Shyamalan has gone from innovative filmmaker to overpriced bomb detonator. Peaking in 1999 with The Sixth Sense, anyone and everybody wanted to be part of Shyamalan's create plots and left-field twists. However, the greatness that was The Sixth Sense was short lived as Shyamalan presented back to back disasters with 2004's The Village and 2006's Lady in the Water. But never to fear, the modern master of trickery is back at it again, this time bringing Mark Wahlberg along for a confusing tale of adaption and numbers called The Happening.
