The Debate: Mary Jane v. Gwen

Peter Parker has only had two great loves. In the comics, they've both met tragic ends. But in the movies, they've both been played by two of the hottest actresses of their eras. (And since the first movie came out 10 years ago, writing that makes me feel really old, but such is the cyclical nature of Hollywood.) So let's compare them -- which isn't sexist because they're fictional characters.

Kiki's Delivery Service: Special Edition

score:
B-
Director:
Hayao Miyazaki
Cast:
Kirsten Dunst, Phil Hartman, Tress MacNeille, Janeane Garofalo
Running Time:
103
Rated:
G
Author(s):
Miyazaki-san is known around the world for his visionary animation and moving stories. However, Kiki’s Delivery Service is not widely known as one of his most stirring works. While films like Totoro and Ponyo were written by Miyazaki himself, Kiki’s Delivery Service was initially composed by another scriptwriter, and subsequently rewritten by Miyazaki. Accordingly, Kiki seems to lack some of the charm of Miyazaki’s other protagonists.
