For such a conceptually minimalist movie made with a shoe-string budget, Thale is surprising captivating. Most of the Norwegian films that make its way to Western audiences, like Dead Snow and Troll Hunter, have a distinct feel to them, and this movie no exception. It contains the same kitschy humor and mythological elements that make similar films successful.

Oconomowoc, the feature writing/directing/producing debut of Andy Gillies, is an amateur success story that will, however, leave viewers confused and frustrated. The “plot” is loosely as follows: angsty doucher Lonnie Washington (Brendan Marshall-Rashid) rejects a job opportunity (“it wasn’t in his best interest”—whatever that means) to move back into his parents’ house, run by his boozy matriarch mother, and find some direction. His friend Travis (Andy Gillie) convinces him to join his fledgling t-shirt business, and they reluctantly meander through the rest of the film..

'Pitch Perfect' & 'Snow White' Getting Sequels in 2015

Universal has already begun to slate their 2015 releases, announcing today that both Pitch Perfect and Snow White and the Huntsman would be getting the sequel treatment.

'Fast & Furious 7' Coming in 2014

On stage at CinemaCon — a Las Vegas convention of movie exhibitors — while flanked by costars, among them Michelle Rodriguez, Paul Walker, and Tyrese Gibson, action star Vin Diesel announced that the Fast & Furious franchise would continue with a seventh installment.  In fact that film, currently called Fast & Furious 7, already has a release date: July 11, 2014.
