One of the more highly anticipated films at Sundance, God’s Pocket is about a dysfunctional family in the armpit of America where everyone knows everyone and news travels faster than a text message.  Mickey, played by Philip Seymour Hoffman, lives with his wife and racist stepson. Mickey is a drunk deadbeat, plain and simple. His line of work isn’t the most glamorous. When he isn’t working, he’s drinking, so much so he grows distant from his wife, played by Christina Hendricks.

A.C.O.D., which stands for adult children of divorce, is a comedy with a tiny bit of a rom-com and a hefty dose of sitcom flair. The humor is derivative of situations that are also extremely uncomfortable – like finding your long-divorced and extremely hostile parents in highly compromising situations. As a child of divorce, there are far too many scenes that I could relate to, but even people whose parents are still happily married will still be quite amused by the film's particularly quirky brand of humor.

Interview: Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford: The Cabin in the Woods

For years I have respected the work of both Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford.  In Lionsgate's The Cabin in the Woods both get to showcase their comedic talents with endless banter and iconic one liners.  I got to sit down with both actors a few weeks back to discuss the film's complex plot, their reaction to the final product, and just how often the veered off script.
