Author Bios - Jordan Silverthorne
I became involved with CMR in the fall of 2008. At that point, I was already writing for a well-known gaming website, and movie coverage seemed like a natural extension. Stephen and I met through a mutual acquaintance, and as his workload/success grew, I volunteered to lend a hand when needed. The first film I really remember seeing is Jurassic Park in 1993. I know I probably saw dozens of animated kids’ movies before that, but Spielberg’s masterpiece was apparently the first one that really left me awestruck. My personal film collection is quite robust, and I’ve found that I somehow own at least 50 DVDs that I’ve never even seen. I don’t have a favorite film genre, so don’t even bother asking. However, I can say with certainty that my three favorite films are Casablanca, Fight Club, and The Empire Strikes Back. The only thing I really can’t stand is a girly romantic comedy… I just can’t connect (for obvious reasons).
I’m well known amongst my friends for actually knowing too much about certain movies. I get a kick out of hearing funny stories from the set or interesting trivia about how a particular scene was adapted from source material. My girlfriend has learned that she really shouldn’t get me started on comic book films, because I’ll talk her ear off for hours. I’m actually a few days away from graduating with a degree in marketing, but I’m still 18 at heart. My future is a little uncertain at this point, but I’m committed to sticking around Austin for a while, so I’m sure movies will continue to find me.
