I Spit on Your Grave
When Jennifer Hills (played brilliantly by relative newcomer Sarah Butler) rents an isolated cabin in the heart of the woods, she is in dire need of a few weeks away. Working hard on her next novel, the serene outdoors are expected to free her mind of home and allow her to pour herself into her work. In reality, the next twenty-four hours will become a living hell as Jennifer finds herself in a constant battle for pure survival as a group of down-and-out men subject her to a nightmare full of degradation, violence and rape.
To put it frankly, I Spit on Your Grave is not a film for everyone. Poised to showcase the will of a women and the karma that can come from a ruthless crime, Steven R. Monroe's gritty remake of the 1978 film is every bit as intense as one would imagine - plus a little more.
Sarah Butler gives a gutsy performance as our leading lady, but in the end, the film excels on its thematic principles of karma and revenge. By the time the credits roll, our victim has become the victor in a survival-of-the-fittest tale for the ages.
The bonus features are decent for this indie, unrated horror remake, however, they aren't the reason to purchase this Blu-Ray. No, the traps are what will get your blood running. Straight to the point: Jigsaw would be proud!
